During MIT's Independent Activities Period each January, students are given the opportunity to take all sorts of special classes. In 2022, I was lucky to take the metalsmithing class in the MIT Metal Lab. There I learned the basics of metalsmithing, including annealing, forming, joining, and finishing. Here are some photos I took of my classmates!

After taking the class, I got access to the lab during office hours, and since then I've made a dagger and a paring knife!
